Cabling is boring until Wi-Fi is poor, PoE cameras drop, or a “quick extra point” takes down a switch. CAT6 is enough for many office access ports. CAT6A is the safer default for 10Gb uplinks, Wi-Fi 6/7 access points, and server-room links you do not want to recable in three years.
What we insist on
- A drawing of points, not only a labour quote
- Patch panels and labelled outlets
- Link tests / certification, not “it pings”
- Trays and dressing in the server room so the next change is safe
