3-2-1 backup, in plain English

3-2-1 means three copies of the data, on two different kinds of media, with one copy offsite. It is not a product name. It is a way to survive a disk failure, a theft, or ransomware.

What goes wrong in real offices

• The only backup sits in the same server room
• Nobody has ever restored a file
• The backup user has the same password as the domain admin
• Cloud backup was enabled once and never checked

What “done” looks like

Jobs complete, restores are tested, offsite copy is confirmed, and your administrator knows how to check health without calling us. We use tools such as Veeam when they fit — the method matters more than the logo.
